CURRENT AFFAIRS :-
1. India's first underwater metro service is the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC).
2. Government of India sponsored the proposal for International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023 which was accepted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The declaration has been instrumental for the Government of India to be at the forefront in celebrating the IYM. PM Narendra Modi has also shared his vision to make IYM 2023 a ‘People’s Movement’ alongside positioning India as the ‘Global Hub for Millets’.
3. The Reserve Bank of India is considering expanding the use cases of the digital rupee after it completes the ongoing pilot project with the virtual version of the currency.
4. The European country Croatia has officially adopted the euro as its currency, becoming the 20th country in the European Union (EU) to do so.
5. India has become the chair of the plenary session of the Wassenaar Convention from 1 January. 42 countries are involved in this agreement.
6. The Government of India has prepared more than a thousand waterways to run modern cruise ship service in the rivers.
7. India has asked Pakistan to release 631 Indian fishermen and two civilians and send them back to India. With the end of the jail term of those prisoners, the citizenship has also been confirmed.
8. India and Pakistan shared the list of nuclear plants with each other. Both countries have given this list to each other under the Nuclear Plant Attack Prohibition Agreement.
9. Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) has launched the Prajjwala Challenge. The Prajjwala Challenge has been launched to invite ideas, solutions, and actions that can transform rural development.
10. Reserve Bank of India’s Medium-term Strategy Framework for the period 2023-2025 – ‘Utkarsh 2.0’ – was launched by Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor RBI. The first strategy framework (Utkarsh 2022) covering the period 2019-2022 was launched in July 2019.
